Latino Comedy Project!!
So the Video (300 Mexicans) that I posted not to long ago was actually done by the Latino Comedy Project. The LCD is raved to be one of the funniest sketch comedy troupe. They have worked with Carlos Mencia, Fred Willard, Gabriel Iglesias, Pablo Francisco and Rob Corddry of "The Daily Show," among others. They also produce clothing, an example that i saw was a maternity shirt that said Anchor baby and under that a large number. This was placed right at the belly. So i was wondering that LCD is projecting our culture to millions of people from a comedic standpoint. Do you think this hurts or helps the community? I am not going to lie, i myself found 300 to be somewhat rude and tasteless but I have seen other videos and comedians do it in a way where its not offensive so I am undecided on the matter. What are your thoughts of this? Feel free to take a look at their website. http://youtube.com/user/LatinoComedyProject
300 Mexicans
As I searched the internet for anything that depicted Mexicans in the Media I came up with something that was on you tube. It was titled 300 Mexicans which is a parody of 300 the movie that came out not to long ago. Some of the comments that where left on the message board said this parody was tasteless and down right raciest while others thought it was funny and actually had some truth behind the parody. The parody itself is depicting a large massive Mexican army of janitors and farm laborers running across the Mexican boarder to the United States side with an aggressive attack almost to say they where invading the United States. Here is the Link so you can all see the video for yourself. http://youtube.com/watch?v=l7qKD-Ph7ds. In my opinion this video places a stereotype that every Mexican that crosses the boarder is set to take back the United States and create havoc. All you saw in the video was violent aggression by people who clearly where farm laborers and janitors. I wanted to know what everyone else thought of this video; clearly what I have read it is a mixture of both funny and rude. I would like to know what you all think. Please be has honest has possible thanks. As we read Fluid Boarders we read about stigmas that we place on other people. I see many stigmas in this video, one being that every Mexican who comes over illegally is crime prone and will leach of the services of the United States. These stigmas are strong and many people who are not educated on this topic will not look beyond stigmas and judge unfairly.
